Celebrate Doctor’s Wedding

In the past two years, Dr. Sarala Sridhar of Amrita Hospital {news} in Kochi has helped four couples conceive and give birth to a total of six children. On Wednesday, the couples came to Amritapuri in order to celebrate Dr. Sarala’s marriage with Col. K.K Nair, which was conducted by Amma.
The couples, all of whom hail from various parts of Alappad Panchayat, had lost their children in the tsunami of December 2004. Adding to their plight, the wives had undergone fallopian-tube ligation as a form of permanent contraception. As such, after the tsunami, they found themselves not only childless but also unable to conceive again. It was at this time that Amma offered medical help to these women’s treatment.{news}

Two years later and four of the five couples who underwent the procedure have already given birth {news:first tsunami baby}. Out of their gratitude, they decided to come to Amritapuri to witness the wedding of Dr. Sarala and shower thier best wishes.
Parents with thier babies: L-R Priya and Baby, who gave birth to Aparna on 13th September 2006 (Karthika Star); Lini and Paul who gave birth to Alvin and Atul on 22nd March 2007 (Bharani Star); Asha and Pradeep of Azhikkal, who gave birth to Amritesh on 23 March 2007 (Karthika Star);
Liji and Sreejit, who gave birth to Eknath and Amrita Kripa on 30th October 2006 (Tiru Onam Star).
Dr. Sarala is still assisting two mothers, Luna and Ambily with conception.
